CONSTRUCTION ORGANIZATION DESIGN

1.1 Introduction

This method statement is to show the Method of Installing the ME pipes that penetrate floor slab for WC, Wash Basin, Floor Traps and Floor Waste.

1.2 Scope of works

The objective of this method of statement is to describe the Plumbing, Sanitary, Rain Water, MVAC, and Fire Protection System obtained from the Authority’s supply main and the distribution system. It is necessary to seek the approval from Authority for detailed plan before proceeding with installation.

1.3 Preparation

a) Machinery and Tool •Electric hammer

•Pick, scoop, ladder

•Vibratory compactor, Needle vibrator •Concrete cutting machine •Wiper, bush •Iron wire, rebar •Trowel

b) Material

•Wooden Board •Hanger, support •Non-shrink material

•Concrete, sand, cement, sealant •G.I sleeve (all size)

•Safety work: Sign post, warning tape. •Water for washing

c) Plan the schedule of pipe penetration work and coordinate with concrete casting work of structure construction department.

d) Set up the boundary fence with warning tape around excavation area.

2.0 Installation procedure

All works and materials shall be carried out in accordance with the specification as well as requirements from relevant Authority.

2.1 Material receipts

All incoming materials shall be checked as the following items. Check quantity of non-shrink material Check quality of non-shrink material Check damage of non-shrink material Record on material inspection sheets

2.2 Storage

All material shall be stored in a manner that is both safe and does not damage the items.

2.3 Transportation material

All materials shall be moved around the site in manner that is both safe and minimizes damage to materials and coatings.

Material shall be moved around site either by truck or by hand trolleys.

2.4 Support and wooden box fabrication

To obtain Material/Catalogue Technical Submission approval from consultant To obtain Shop Drawing approval from consultant To obtain approval for Installation Method

Prepare for material quantity take-off and proceed for procurement accordingly

Upon delivery of material, prepare and arrange for material inspection with the necessary documents (e.g.: mill certificate, delivery order, inspection form, etc.) Deliver the material to the designated site store or fabrication yard Exposed supporting bar, wooden board and wires etc. Fabricate the wooden box in designated shape and size. Cut the rebar section by section at the length as required.

3.0 Holes Performing

The holes performing work on site should be carried out accordingly.

3.1 Principles

First of all, after accomplishing the drawing examination and audit carefully, comparing the M&E drawings with structural drawings and architectural drawings, detailed performing and embed project plan will be made out, which must reflect the elevation, size, location and the accurate relationships with the structure and the decoration of the performing and embed of all plumbing pipelines and equipments.

Secondly, in the process of the construction, all M&E professionals must well coordinate with the work of construction to get the performing and embed work well done. Piping shaft, the pipes crossing the beam and floor slab should be in good accordance with civil works. We will strengthen inspection so as to avoid any possible mistakes.

3.2 Performing holes on site

The holes include square hole and circle hole. Respectively, they will be performed as follows.

3.2.1 For circle holes

a) After the formwork is finished in any area where should reserve holes on site, fix up specified sleeve right at the exact position, just as showed on the Concrete Body Plan Drawings. And should fill the sleeve with foam or anything else to ensure the concrete will not drop into the sleeve when casting concrete on site.

b) There should be some professional worker on site to take care the progress rate on site when the structure construction department is going to do casting work. Approximately 2-4 hours after the concrete casting work has been finished in the area, draw each sleeve out at half length, and after another 2-4 hours draw out sleeve completely.

c) When workers draw out the sleeve on site, do make sure draw it out vertically and carefully without any oblique or any action that will damage the concrete during the initial setting time.

3.2.2 For square holes and pipe shaft

After the formwork is finished in any area where should reserve square holes on site, confirm the specific location of the holes according to the Concrete Body Plan Drawings, fixing up a hollow wooden box right in specific position. The wooden box

had better be covered by something to prevent the concrete falling into it.

The wooden box no need to be pulled out during initial setting time. It will be pulled out when installing relevant pipework or ductwork through the holes.

4.0 Back filling sealing

When all of the pipes that should penetrate the preformed holes have been installed accordingly, the holes should be filled back with some special non-shrink material.

4.1. Roughening

Roughen the surface of hole and slab around with electric hammer, hand hammer or chisel. When workers chipping the hole, should ensure that the force intensity is proper.

4.2. Setting location

Because the reserved holes are always bigger than the pipes that run through such holes, adjust the pipe to make sure the exact position is just specific location. Fix the pipes with supporting bar, angle bar, screws and bolts, as showed on the diagrammatic sketch drawing below. To make the pipes will be completely stable during the following processes.

4.3. Cleaning

Clear up all the sand, stone, gravel, concrete blocks etc. to make the surface of hole and slab around clean. Then, use some water washing off the dust from the surface.

4.4. Supporting

As showed on the diagrammatic sketch drawings below, hang a wooden board on the bottom of the hole by wire and bar. Ensure that the wooden board is tightly close to the bottom surface of the floor slab.

4.5. Filling back

Mix up the non-shrink material in accordance with the instruction which included in the manufacturer's manual, and compliance with other necessary requirements from manufacturer. Feed back the mixture into the holes. The operators should ensure the mixture filling the hole tight and make the surface as smooth as possible.

4.6. Checking and Plastering

After specified time, remove the bottom board as well as supporting rebar. Then, check the surface of the hole, if there is any depression or bulge, these rough places on the surface could be plastered up.

Clear up floor slab of the room which such holes are inside, and then, water to the room until the water flooded the entire floor. But keep the water level not too high to overflow the room. Keep it about
