 Unit 7 After school

Good afternoon, everyone. I’m very glad to stand here to share my teaching plan with all of you. Today my topic is “After school”, Part A of Unit 7, which is from fun with English 5 A. I arrange it as period ⅱ. My teaching report includes four parts.

ⅰ. The analysis of the teaching material ⅱ. The teaching methods and teaching aids ⅲ. The teaching procedures ⅳ. The design of the blackboard Now I will present you one by one.

Part ⅰ: Analysis of the teaching material I will talk about this part in four steps.

Firstly, I’ll tell you the analysis of this lesson and the students’ characteristics. According to the background on the reformation of curriculum, this lesson can connect the life and act, emphasize the interest and experience of the students, the pictures are active and vivid. Grade5 is the initial stage of English learning. So it stresses on the emotion of the students, creates a well beginning for the students. The students have learnt English for about two years so far. They can understand some words and some simple sentences. The students have taken great interest in English now.

Secondly, I’ll talk about teaching aims.

Considering the National standard of curriculum, the content of this lesson and the level of the students, I designed three teaching aims. Aims on knowledge, Aims on abilities, Aims on emotions.

A. knowledge aims of this lesson:

1) to enable the students to master the four skilled words: night, half, past, ready, take, really

2) to enable the students to master the structure “What time is it? It’s„past/to„.” and “It’s time for„.”

3) to enable the students to master the daily expressions and the patterns: Are you ready for…? Let’s hurry.

I’m on duty. Be quick.

B. aims on abilities

By the end of this lesson, students should be able to speak out the words and sentences according to the pictures.

Students should also be able to use the new sentences to talk about the topic in real situations. C. emotional aims

1) To foster the students’ consciousness of cooperation and proper competition 2) To make the students have successful feeling and achievement

3) To develop the students’ knowledge expression abilities and encourage them

to take part in class activities zealously The third step is the key points

4) The key points of this lesson are enable the students to master the four skilled words: night, half, past, ready, take, really

Enable the students to master the structure “What time is it? It’s„past/to„.” and “It’s time for„.” Step4. Difficult points

Make the students understand the difference between “past and to”

Foster the students’ consciousness of cooperation and proper competition

Partⅱ. Teaching methods and teaching aids

As we all know that the primary school students are curious about new things and eager to show themselves. The main instructional aims of learning English in primary school are to cultivate pupils’ basic abilities of learning, speaking, and good sense of language. So in this lesson, I’ll mainly use communicative teaching method, task-based teaching method.

To achieve the aims of this lesson, CAI, cassette, tape recorder and pictures will be needed.

Part ⅲ. Teaching procedures I’ll mainly talk about this part.

In this part, I’ll mainly use 5-P models Step1. Preparation (5 minutes)

In this step, we will greet with each other firstly.

And then we’ll say a rhyme “clock”. I’ll play the rhyme and ask the students to say after it.

After that, we’ll review what we learnt last class. Eg, I’ll show them a picture and ask the students to complete my sentences and speak them out. Step2. Presentation (20 minutes)

In this step, I’ll show the students two pictures, and talk to them: “It’s Thursday, David has a busy day. He is busy from seven in the morning to ten at night. What is he busy with? Do you want to know? OK, now let’s listen to the tape.” Here I’ll play the tape three times.

The first time is to enable the students to get the main idea and answer my questions:

Q1. What day is it today?

Q2. What time does he get up in the morning? Q3. Does he have time for breakfast? Q4. What time does he have lunch?

Q5. What does he need to do after lunch? Q6. What does he do at a quarter past four? Q7.Does David watch TV at night? Why?

The second time is to enable the students to repeat after the tape sentence by sentence and try to line out the important sentences.

The third time is to practice their listening and speaking abilities. Ask the students to pay attention to their pronunciation and try to fill in the blanks. Step3. Practice (5 minutes)

Then I’ll ask the students to read in different roles and come to the platform to act it out randomly.

Task based teaching method is used here to develop the students’ ability of communication and their ability of cooperation will be trained. This step provides guided oral practice using the target language to consolidate the key structure of this lesson and it can develop the students’ skill of speaking and sense of language.

Step4. Production and progress (10 minutes)

In this step I will give them an example, show them my “My Dream Day” then ask the students to talk about their dream days in groups and ask them to act it out. My purpose is to extend what they learnt just now and give the students a free space to show their abilities. Students will fell easy and successful during this part. By the way of communication, the students will understand how to use the key structure better and consolidate the knowledge firmly. Step5. Homework

1) Ask the students to recite the dialogue after school 2) Preview next part

3) Use the main structures learnt today to make some sentences

The purpose of my designing: I think homework is so important that the students should speak English as much as they can in class or after class. It’s necessary for the Ss to do some extensive exercises after class to consolidate the knowledge they learnt.
