The Effect of So Many Peasants Moving into the Cities

As the society develops, the gap between the cities and the countries

is being unprecedentedlywiden, causing many agricultural people flowing into the cities, either for more opportunities to make fortunes, or for a better livelihood.

The immigrating trend of these people, however, leads to a series of

social problems, for example, medicare, children schooling, and social stability issues.

To begin with, medicare problem is of top priority since it concerns

every man in a direct way. As it’s known, our country has already developed a medical insurance system for its citizens aiming to guarantee the proper medical treatment years ago. Yet one big shortcoming of this insurance system is that it requirespatients receive only local treatment. For the migrating agricultural workers, the system sounds so discriminatory. It actually deprives of their right to enjoy the medical welfare! As much, I’d suggest the national government improving the mobility of medicare insurance to ensure the peasants’ medicare right.

Besides, the education of these agricultural worker’s children also

posts a strong threat to our educating system as a whole. I believe that the government shall invest more into the education taargetting at

children of these immigrating workers. Apart from that, specific regulations have to be put forward to reduce the imbalance existing in educational opportunity between these children and kids in big cities. By taking both actions, we can practically guarantee the fairness of the education right of these children.

In addition, we need to solve the social unstable problem brought by

these agricultural people. To achieve that, the community should make specific efforts embracing these immigrants, providing them a home-like place to stay and encouraging them to fit in with the neighbourhood. On the other hand, the employers of the peasants need to properly manage and provide adequate protection to the agricultural workers according to laws and regulations. These measures are quite effective, as I suppose, in dealing with the potential social unrest.

All in all, the trend of rural people moving into big cities is irreversible.

Therefore people needs to pay more attention as to how to minimize the problems brought by the trend instead of simply suppressing the historical tendency.
