My friend Mike is a student. Last summer he went to France and stayed there for two months. I was surprised that Mike could have a very long holiday because he didn’t have any money. But he told me that he got a job. He taught an owner of a small shop. I knew Mike couldn’t teach him well, but the owner wanted to practice his English. He had a lot of American customers, so it is very important for him to speak English. Mike spent three hours a day talking to him. The owner gave him a room, three meals a day and a little pocket money. When Mike came back, he told us that the owner didn’t learn much English but he learnt a lot of French.
